Sophie & Elliot

Elliot’s family home, Ruscombe and Saint James’ The Great Church, Ruscombe, Berkshire.

I got a call from a bride i have booked recently explaining to me how, due to unforseen circumstances, somebody she knew through work was without a wedding photographer and with only 3 weeks to go before the big day. Luckily, I had the Saturday free and so I very quickly got to know Sophie and Elliot and got to be part of a scorching hot Summer’s day in the beautiful village of Ruscombe near Reading, Berkshire.

Set in a beautiful barn conversion (previously used for Elliot’s brother’s wedding the year previous), the reception was held at the home of his parents. A classic tractor and a VW camper van outside purely “for the gram” as the hanging board states, a champagne reception provided and the silky vocals of Alan Bourne.

The backdrop of a gorgeous garden, a terrace full of family and friends and a pool to lounge by whilst catching up made for some great photos with family and the wedding party. As well as serving multiple choices for individual couple photos for Sophie and Elliot.

Elliot’s two brothers and groomsman serenaded the crowd with an impromptu crooner number with the band before directing everyone to the barn for rowdy speeches, lots of laughs and plenty of standing on tables whilst Darude - Sandstorm plays in the background as people take the stage. Followed by Elliot standing on his chair and dancing to The Libertines at the rousing crowd’s insistent request.

Through the high energy and laughs there were also plenty of truly sincere and loving moments, recognising how far people can come and with support from their loved ones resulting in plenty of tears and rounds of applause.

Once all that was done, dinner was served, drinks were had and the night was set with the band, Jumpstart through Entertainment Nation rounded off nicely with the first dance and cutting cake before heading off home with old indie tunes ringing in my head for the next few days. Lovely.
